SITE ORDERS

Through photography, mapping, writing, and sectional studies, natural and urban site orders are explored and analyzed to develop a building and design with a special emphasis given to the relationship between the given program and external context.

Our site is located at the end of the 210 freeway in Pasadena on W California Blvd & S Pasadena Ave.

Site Analysis

I visited the site at different times in the day and after different weather types to determine how the site reacted to the different times and climates. It was then that I realized that this particular site has a steep slope that floods when it rains.

With the use of simple geometric shapes and the data I collected on my site visit I used Rhino to create variations of the buildings by manipulating the size, placement, and shapes on the site. Due to the flooding and natural slope of the site, I also manipulated the height of the building and decided to raise it so that it did not sit on the floor of the site.
